If anyone has seen “2 Days in Paris” you’ll know about the very special event that takes place every June 21st in Paris: Fete de la Musique. This is the time of year when music can be heard everywhere.

Unfortunately that wasn’t really the case last year. In previous years there were marching bands down Faubourg Saint Antoine, jazz and accordions around Abbesses, and club music on the entire rue de Temple. I feel like it’s scaled down a lot in recent years.

For instance last year when I walked from Passy to Quai de Valmy it was just the Marais and Canal Saint Martin that had music blasting from every corner. There was just one lone guitar player in front of the Louvre, one 3 piece band outside some eyeglass store on Mandar, and absolutely nothing at Hôtel de Ville or République.

Hopefully it was just a fear of the Gilets Juenes that downsized the event. However I doubt Music Day will happen this year because of Covid 19, but be sure to check the government website for more information. Sortir à Paris is also a good site for help in English.
